I have been going through my "stuff"
and getting rid of things.
My Christmas decorations took a big hit.
These are some old favorites
that I couldn't part with for one reason
or another.

This snowman was left by a friend and neighbor
when they moved.
I probably should give him a new ribbon.
This is his first year indoors.

This little Santa has a "bean bag" butt
making him easy to sit precariously.

My husband gave me this Boyds bear.

No story here..
I bought him because he winked at me.

He sits on my stove most of the winter...

I once had a neighbor who worked with miniatures.
He did these trees for Christmas one year.
Most of the elements are hand made by him.

Of course..
Mollie has her favorite things as well....

This past weekend was spent doing
Christmasy things.
I did a little outside.....

And probably a little less indoors...

But  wishes for a warm, wonderful, family filled,
Holiday season are still there.

Merry Christmas everyone
and all the best in 2012.

This season comes with new
"things to do".

Cards ready to mail..
(less and less each year).

Calendar ready for 2012.

Packages wrapped and ready for Santa.
I  love creating pretty packages.

Now comes the fun part..
the distribution.
I hope your Holidays are happy !!!

Several years ago,
I purchased two Winterberry bushes
because I loved the way
their berry covered skeletons brighten
the landscape in the winter.

This is the first year the berries have lasted.
They've always been eaten
 before the leaves have fallen.
Last year a chipmunk harvested them in two days.
Often the blue birds get them...

Melinda mocking bird has taken a few
but all in all, so far so good.

This is a "Common Flicker".
They are the only brown backed woodpeckers
 in the East
and feed on the ground,
looking for ants and beetle larvae.
(This guy doesn't know that).

Henry the hawk looking for breakfast.

Enjoy your day !!!

                                                                This is a first !!!!

Why, you ask???
Max has never (to my knowledge)
taken a drink from a dish...NEVER !!
When we first got him,
he would only drink from a dripping faucet.
When I went away someone had to come in
and turn the tap on for him.
Finally, I invested in a fountain that he learned
to drink from. Often he drank from the top..
never from the reservoir..

When I got Mollie, I had to put his food and water
up out of her reach so I gave him some
of my bathroom counter.

I have noticed lately
that some of his attempts to jump up
on the counter have failed.
That, and his drinking out of Mollies dish
 for several days
makes me think that for some reason he is not able to
make the leap easily anymore.

Maybe he's got a little arthritis.
He's a big cat ...
Landing on a hard floor all these years
may caused some damage ??

" But I can still do it " !!

The dilema was where to put his food ....
Mollie can go just about anywhere he can.

The bathtub !!!!

Lying in wait..
( Max is always fair game).
I wouldn't be surprised
to see Mollie in the bathtub one of these days.
So far, so good.

This past weekend, Mollie and I went up to the farm.
"Andy is making stromboli, why don't you come up?"

Well, you didn't have to ask me twice...

When we arrived, the kitchen was a beehive of activity..

Amanda was making cookies..

Mother and son working on Stromboli..

Andy was working the Italian dough...

Beverly was making mozzarella from curd...

Mmmm...Looks good enough to eat..

And it was..some with olives,

Some without....
With or without..It was the best.
Can you believe that they KEPT THE LEFTOVERS !!
I would have too..There weren't that many anyhow.

After stuffing ourselves,
we went to the barn to do the PM chores.
Mollie had to meet the pigs..

I'm not too sure what she thought about them.
She seemed more interested in Leo.

The "piglets" have grown by leaps and bounds.

Sophia looks on.

The turkeys took us up to see the goats..

Audrey looks wonderful in her fluffy winter coat..

Did you ever see a guinea weather vane???
Not too reliable..

Tummy full and a little weary, we headed home.
Thanks Bev and Hubs for a really fun day..
Love ya..

At 4:55 every afternoon the skies become full
of migrating geese for about ten minutes.

You could probably set your watch by this.

Announcing their arrival,
the sound of honking geese can be heard
for quite some time before they come in to view.

They land in a field adjacent to our development.

Coming from all directions,
my guess is that
this must be a designated resting place
on their journeys map.
I hope they stay away from the golf courses!!

                        Seasonal Migration

Typically the Canada goose engages in two seasonal migrations, each autumn and spring. According to the Ducks Unlimited website, the migration of the Canada goose is typically associated with a need for food. Grass has become a goose's primary food source and as the grasslands of the north freeze, geese travel south to more temperate climates. In the spring, geese travel along the same routes to return home to their starting point. Some Canada geese, known as resident geese, only migrate short distances unless severe weather forces them to leave, according to the Humane Society. Many geese find rest points along their migration route and may spend several days or weeks in a particular area before traveling further south, according the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

People often say to me ( about Mollie)
" Oh, she must be such good company "
When, in reality, she isn't.

She's off working on her long list of
"things to do today"

Or taking that much needed nap.

Max, on the other hand, is almost always
in touching range when I sit down and rubbing up against my legs when I'm standing.

He doesn't look very comfy to me...

OK..once in awhile she comes through..
