But how am I to drink it ??

Max has been with me for ten years.
This is the only way he would drink
for a very long time...

When we went away, someone had to come
to run the water for Max..

We had another cat at the time
who drank out of a dish.
Dear, sweet Abby.

We tried everything....
and still...

I had been putting off buying a fountain
 because of the cost,
but I was told that I could return it
if he didn't use it....

Fortunately, he uses it but he drinks
out of the top.
(He didn't read the directions)

This was taken today just before noon.
The thermometer is in the shade !!!

We've had a long streak of hot temperatures
and no rain for several weeks.

It's taking it's toll...
I guess I should be happy that I don't have to mow, but I'm not..It's just ugly.

I spend way more time on
the other end of this hose
than I ever do behind or on a lawn mower.
(And it looks nice when I'm done)

These were watered this morning.

Unfortunately, most people
don't think about watering their poor trees.

Then we have frizz and undesirable waves
from the humidity.
(Not much brown left)
Bring on the snow...I guess it would be OK
to have a little fall first.

I have a new collar..
It's called a  "Kool collar"

Mom is very tired of my lying
 down under every tree
when she takes me for a walk
 on these hot afternoons.
( She's left standing in the sun
on the sidewalk.)

She just fills it with ice cubes
and keeps it in the freezer...
The melting ice cubes make me very comfortable.
Today she left it off thinking it wasn't hot,
but it was!!!!

It comes with inserts like jelpacks
that I can wear in the house
and it won't drip.
I could use one now but the collar
is frozen in the freezer
loaded with ice cubes.
I just heard her on the phone
ordering another one...
Thanks Mom !!!
P.S. Maybe she should
order herself one..TeeHee  :)

I was going through some old things
looking for old pictures
came across these
newspaper articles from
the sixties and seventies.

This was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer
probably in 1961
when I was a Senior in nursing school.
It was advertising their annual Fall Fair.

This was in 1962 when Chestnut Hill Hospital
received a substantial donation from
a local business.
( I was on a roll)

This is from The Patriot News in 1972
when Polyclinic opened their new cardiac unit.
They opened a newer one after that
and have since closed the hospital.

I taught Senior Lifesaving for 4-5  years
at the Harrisburg JCC in the 70's.
Each year, they published our "class picture"
 in their" Community Review. "

I was sitting on my neighbors porch
and this little critter appeared
on their table.

It must belong to the grasshopper,
praying mantis or cricket family..

It looks like it should be walking on the moon.
Does anyone know what it is???

Each year I'm excited to see this...

Knowing that soon there will be this...

So pretty and so short lived...

Ruffled Feathers (the feathers)

At first glance, I thought
this was a baby.
When he smoothed his feathers
it was obviously an adult.

This little guy was waiting for me
while I was trying to get a
" feeding time at the birdhouse"  picture.
He was trying to use the bird bath
and I was blocking his path..

(My new computer screen background)

Then there's Sir Max....(the fur)

How would you like your cat???
Well done ? Medium ? or rare?
Max often lies on the top of the stove
 in the morning sun..
It's a good thing I don't cook.

And the etc.....

From this

To this

This is the only little frog
that has developed from the tadpoles.
There is a big older guy that only comes out
at dusk and I have been unable
to photograph him.
He's probably the one with the loud mouth.
Here's another little one.
Now there are two from the tadpoles.

Frogs are territorial.
I learned this several years ago
I introduced several new frogs to my pond.
They mysteriously died.
My pond guru told me that if I already had
frogs in my pond, they may have killed them.
The more I see of nature.......

I thought this was an unusual scene.
It's one of those "being in the right place
at the right time" things.
It was only seconds before sunset
with the sun setting behind me.

The last of the sunlight for the day.
By the time I got my camera
and took the picture, it was gone.
