I was looking out of my kitchen window
this morning and noticed this
Great Blue Heron
stalking the edge of the wetlands.

We have a pair of them that frequent
this area looking for voles.
I've seen them catch them and then
carry them down to the water
where they
 drown them before
 they swallow them whole.
You can see the lump going down their throat.

I love seeing them fly overhead.
I think they look very prehistoric.

One never knows what may be flying overhead..
We used to see a  lot of these
and almost daily hot air balloons.
It's been a long time.
