CRAZY MAISEY'S ICE CREAM

I was in my kitchen the other night when I heard a sound outside that reminded me of my childhood..
It was the sound of a calliope...
It was an ice cream truck !!! Reminder of  the old days at the shore when I was growing up.

The truck would come around every evening after supper and we would run out to greet it with our pennies and nickels in our little hands..

One could hear the music from blocks away..
It is the same sound playing Christmas carols and movie themes..I'm told that it comes through the neighborhood every Sunday evening. It sure brought back some memories.
I'll bet that the kiddies aren't running out with nickels and pennies!

Such a fun sound and memory isn't it? Be a kid again and next Sunday run out to get an ice cream . . .

no I doubt that very much, I don't know about the prices where you are but the ice cream truck goes through my daughters neighborhood and the treats are very pricey!!But all part of childhood just the same, we didn't have this in the rural area I grew up in but it would have been a wonderful treat if they did!!!Have a wonderful week,

Just read your blog and I'm like you we have an Ice Cream truck coming thru the neighbor hood too, brings back a lot of memories, my favor ice cream was called a cho cho it came on a stick with a wrapper and you put your hands aound the wrapper until it came loose and then you pulled it out,it was like a chocolate malt.

We still have them in some of the neighborhoods here. However, they now need to run out with dollars instead of nickles and dimes- xo Diana

As a child I lived out in the country so no ice cream truck for me. But now there is one that comes once a week and when my grand kids are at my house out they run. Of course it is more like $2 each, yikes! Thank goodness they aren't at my house too often when the truck comes around or this granny will go broke!!

the ice-cream truck in our neighborhood sells wrapped cold treats for like twice the price as a box in the grocery store.....

We have an ice cream truck that comes through our subdivision every now and then. I don't think they're near as popular these days as they were when we were younger. Nowadays, the grocery store offers every variety ever made. It used to be you couldn't get those at the store (only the icecream parlors and truck). I agree with you that it is a nice sound that takes me back to my childhood too.
