SPOILED ROTTEN

That would be me!!
I have several neighbors who often bring me food.
Some times it's leftovers, sometimes not.
They know that I don't cook but I'm not starving..
That's for sure !

I forget what this was..something with shrimp and Risotto..
I had mentioned that I never had Jello shots.
She was making them for a friends dinner party and though it was high time I tried them..Yum!!
Dessert too...Snicker Doodles.

Seafood Paella

Lemon Sorbet
(very refreshing)

Egg salad and Potato salad.

What a treat..Thanks Deb and Michelle...
It was hard to know where to start.

TWEAKING

I am  a notorious tweak-er.
Having spent the last few evenings and last weekend sitting on my front porch, I saw a lot of my front yard.....or not.

The Alberta Spruce on the corner was cute ten years ago when it was little but now I think it's out of proportion and is becoming difficult to trim. Most years it is a home to bees by the end of the summer.
It also tends to block Mollies view
when she's sitting in her chair :)

So, out it came.
I was amazed at it's small root system.

Here's the redo! I like it much better..
I still have the privacy of the maple
and Mollie can sit and watch the world go by.

"POOL" SIDE

I'm not sure why she hasn't ended up in my pond.
I wonder if she can swim?  Can't all dogs swim?

I must say that those rocks aren't terribly stable.

So far, so good...

LACE CAPS

I have several Hydrangeas and I have to say that the lace cap may be my favorite maybe because of the variety in it's flower.
The lace caps nestle among tapered leaves which become very colorful in the fall adding to it's appeal..This is an ancient Japanese variety discovered in the 1800s by Joseph Dalton Hooker.   It is a gorgeous plant with continuous blooming from May till the first hard frost.

Lace cap flowers are made up of small fertile flowers in the center with a ring of larger sterile florets around the outside.
The flower head has a comparatively flat,  appearance.

If the you want to turn the blues pink, or keep pink and red varieties true, add lime. This method can take a couple of years to become fully effective..If you want the blue, add Aluminum Sulfate. If all this seems too complicated..... enjoy the color that comes naturally on your soil.
I’ve never seen an ugly Hydrangea.

BABIES, BABIES, EVERYWHERE

While Mollie and I were walking around the backyard,   we were being accosted by several Robins.
Here's why....

This little guy was sitting on my neighbors fountain.

So we went over and sat quietly on my neighbors patio while Mom and Dad took turns feeding him.

They were still not happy that we were there.
I just didn't want him to fall in to the fountain.
Before long, he was gone..Who knows where?
I did see him jump down to the ground.
I hope that the Bullfrog that lives under that fountain didn't get him.
What a sobering thought.

NEEDED TO BE DONE

If you saw my last blog post,
you'll remember my reference to the basement..
For sometime I've been thinking that I should move the paint cans and these boxes away from the furnace and the hot water heater.

The meticulously neat craft rooms I've been visiting on line and the heat outside, made me go "below".

These things have been here for years but it's probably not the safest place for them.

In anticipation of moving some day, I've been saving packing boxes. I should probably start getting rid of the smaller ones but I moved them anyway.

All clear...cool job for a hot day!!
The row of carpet remnants are keeping Mollie and Max from hiding under the stairs.

WHAT TO DO TODAY???

I spent a lot of yesterday morning visiting blogs on
the 4th annual blog party  "Where Bloggers Create".
The focus was on "creative spaces".
WOW..so organized and neat...I have to wonder if they always look like that...(smile).
This got me thinking about a corner in my basement that isn't..organized and neat.
I thought I'd take Mollie out before I tackled the basement  so I could work nonstop.
When we went outside, it was cloudy and in the 80's.

I've been putting off dead heading and cutting back my perennials because it's been just too hot.

So, why not??? I can always do the basement.

I've been waiting for the rest of these poppies to die back..I guess they're staying around..

Yuk..time for you to go..

 Very faded..begone!!

 Looks a lot better...

No work here...Yay

PS
We are already 2 inches low for the year in precipitation.
So this little rain was more than welcome.

It lasted long enough for me to get my camera and take the picture...Stopped by for a photo op!!
Every little bit helps I guess..

ME IN A NUTSHELL

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KExZq5EiFuY/T8kDtx0AmOI/AAAAAAAAFlk/x7NBh1pMU7U/s1600/WhereBloggersCreate2012big.jpg

Thanks Karen for putting all of this together. I've enjoyed going through last years blogs.

I can't say that I really have a creative space. If I did I would have to include my house and my yard. There are no dedicated areas or rooms. I started blogging a year and a half ago and enjoy it thoroughly. It's fun to visit other blogs when I have the time.

Most of my posts start with photographs that I try to say something about..I have over a thousand photos now..It's hard to pick my favorites but here are a few.

Miss Mollie

These two are frequently the subjects in my photos.

Sir Max

I feed the birds..

I have a small pond that attracts lots of critters.
You can see the newly hatched ducklings from 2007.

This is probably my all time favorite photo.
This Mallard has made her nest against the back of my house by my pond for the last seven years. Until this year, I have witnessed the eggs hatching each year. I found the ducklings the following day in the wetlands nearby.Five out of the nine are still around. There is still egg shell on her bill.

We have very few squirrels..no trees.

Three frogs..12 o'clock, nine o'clock and four o'clock.

This frog laid her eggs in my neighbors fountain. It was full of tiny tadpoles when he went to clean it out. She's a lot smaller now.

I "stamp" greeting cards but not as much as I used to.
After all, one can only use so many.

I DON'T do counted cross stitch any more..but..I made this for a neighbors daughter who recently got married.

Gardening is one of my passions.
 .

Here are my constant companions.
Well, that's me in a nutshell...thanks for visiting.
