YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOSE

        OR NOT....
If you get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night
in this house,
you'd better take your pillows with you.

"Turn those lights off Mom. Can't you see I'm sleeping?"
Isn't she just the cutest thing?

ALREADY ?

Is it me ???
Isn't it a little early
for the finches to be losing their summer yellow?

I thought I was seeing things..

I guess it goes along with this crazy weather we've been having.

This little Downy Woodpecker sat there for ten minutes.
He's a cutie and frequent visitor.
They are the smallest North American woodpecker.

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN !!!

The moon is full again...
I keep trying to get the perfect shot
but I'm too lazy to get out my tripod.
These are pretty good but they need trees or houses.

Then there's the moon according to Mollie.

She's such a huge help..
It's her version of a Rorschach Test.
What do you see?

JUST STUFF

I was grilling Mollies chicken the other day,
( Yes, Mollie eats chicken topped with dry dog food.)
and I guess things got a little warm for this guy.

Meanwhile,
Max is sleeping in Mollies bed.
I never saw him do this before.

I'm sure that there were some of these in his dreams.

This is a much more common scene.

He just loves clean sheets fresh from the clothes line.
Don't we all?

"Some body's sleeping in my bed.
I think I'll try the couch.
I've always wondered why Mom sleeps with three pillows..
 It's not so bad."
(Of course Mollie is dreaming about chasing bunnies.)

I'm almost embarrassed to post this picture.
( I'll enlarge it a bit ).

The standards for home grown produce
are pretty high in my family.
I don't think these two little tomatoes keep up.
I planted this as a lark this spring..Too much shade, I think.

Have a wonderful weekend.

A VISIT TO OUR GARDEN CENTER

I have hole out front where a Holly used to be
so I thought I'd visit the local garden center
to check out the replacement possibilities..
I love red maples
but I don't think one would look right by my front door.

This is a new shrub called a Deodor Cedar.
It gets 3 ft wide and 5 feet tall but needs more sun
than it would get in this particular location.
It looks very soft but don't let it's looks deceive you,
IT BITES !

I looked at some other options
and decided on a dark red Rhododendron.
There are others here and it will fit in nicely.

I was meeting some friends for lunch and was a little early
so I played with my camera a little. This Hibiscus was huge.

Hydrangea

Butterfly Bush

There are various stands with snack foods, dips, jams and jellies..

Baked goods...

Fruits and veggies and canned goods.

and baby things..

Another section houses the gift shop...

Self serve birdseed..

Annuals....

House plants...

A Fairy garden..

and a bee hive that was lost several years ago..
glad to see it thriving now.

It's a fun place to visit, has changed a lot over the years
and even burned down at least once..
PS.   Lunch was good.

PEACH FESTIVAL

This weekend was our Peach Festival.

The "boys" in the maintenance department
helped set everything up.

Crates and cases of corn, tomatoes, peaches, nectarines, melons and much, much more.

The residents were given a chance to purchase these things
before festival day.

Baked goods were not available until the actual day.
I took a pie over to an ex neighbor of mine
and of course I had to have a brownie or two.

Residents and volunteers peeled and sliced cases of peaches
that were enjoyed with vanilla ice cream.
I brought some home for my cereal.

There were bunches of freshly cut flowers for sale as well.

The auxiliary holds this festival for our benefit.
I don't yet know how well they did, but
Thanks !!

SOMETHING TO DO

It was beautiful this morning so I decided to "Tweak"
my downspouts..

I dug a little basin and put different sized stones in it.
I saw this on Pinterest or on someones blog and pushed it
to the back of my mind for "someday".

Today was the day...

Let's hope they don't all wash away...Have a great weekend.
