THE INSIDE OF THE FORUM

This is a continuation of my previous post about " The Forum "

 The Interior:

A little history...
There are eight varieties of marble from Africa, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Tennessee, and Vermont. The designers of the wall and ceiling murals Eric Gugler and Ricard Brooks wanted to depict the march progress of mankind and the overwhelming majesty of the heavens. The maps and adjacent tablets on the upper promenade walls commemorate the socially-significant individuals who made famous the great period of each particular locale. The ceiling was painted on individual canvas sections and decorated with constellations and depictions from the Zodiac. More than one thousand stars are shown in their proper position. Three hundred sixty five are of crystal glass, now illuminated by energy-efficient LED lights. These LED lights were retrofitted in 2008 as part of a Department of General Services Guaranteed Energy Savings Act, (GESA) project.
This text is from a General Services Pamphlet..

It's beautiful inside and due for renovation between now and fall.
They won't disturb the architecture  but will be adding
restrooms and new seating.

The acoustics are perfect as is our Symphony.

Sorry for the blur but I wanted to get the full orchestra
and the stage at performance time.

They often play to sold out crowds.
I usually go to the POPS Concerts that are a bit lighter than the classical music of the regular concerts.

What an AMAZING place, Missy. I bet the acoustics are out of this world. I just love to see old places like this and know that they are kept up and used. xo Diana
