Trick or treat !!!

I went a little crazy making Halloween cards this year so...
You get to pick the one you want.

I hope that you don't run in to any of these creatures
when you are out begging...

Have fun and be safe!!

The Maple tree in the front of my house has seen better days.
It has looked like this all summer.

It was cut down last week...No more shade in my bedroom.

You can't tell from this picture but the roots were girdled from improper planting.
Eventually this strangles the tree and it dies.

The branches were fed in to a shredder...
(This is a tree down the street).

Several days later the trunks and large branches were picked up.
(my tree again).

Soon after that the roots were ground up
but only down about six inches .

I suspect no one told him
that there was going to be a tree planted here.
I probably should have said something so the whole trunk would have been ground up.
Not like me to let him do his job :)

I requested a weeping Japanese Maple to replace it
to balance my other one.
Instead, an upright Maple appeared.
Because of the old trunk and roots, it was impossible to dig far enough away from the house for that tree.

It was decided to move MY Japanese to the front of the house
and plant the new one in it's spot.
I was OK with that
because it was going to get to big for this space eventually.

Here it is in its new home..Just what I wanted...

The new tree will get to big to put in it's place..
(too close to the house)

The little bush was moved to the Japanese Maples' spot
and the new tree was put where the bush was.
Are you still with me??
My walk was moved in a bit.

This tree came out of the burlap pretty girdled.
"They" are deciding whether it should be replaced.
It doesn't have a very good collateral root system..we'll see.
( I just heard that it's going to be replaced :) )

We had some onlookers giving advice....

I hope your week is treating you well.

This Mockingbird was making way too much noise outside my window this morning.

Since I had my camera in my hand.......

Can't forget Mrs. Cardinal...

 Bear with me..
It's just so much fun to take pictures when they turn out so well...
(I think)
I hope you are enjoying the fall color and the clear crisp nights.

It was like this all day yesterday..

Several weeks ago I upgraded my IPad to 8.0...

Since then I have had major problems with anything Blog related.
I'm not getting my "follow by email" blogs.
To do anything, I must first sign in to Google.
Here's the typical scenario when I want to leave a comment.
1. write my comment
2. get a prompt to sign in to Google.

3.sign in to Google
4. REWRITE my comment..then publish !!!

Today, added to that, is word verification to prove I'm not a robot.

Sorry friends, but I'm not doing all that.
Even when I do, my comments sometimes don't go thru.
This problem is only with my IPad..generally my PC is OK.

I was very happy that I was able to dictate my comments.
It saves my arthritic hands.

I've tried several things to remedy this with no results.
Blogger and Bloglovin don't let you sign in anonymously so that won't work. They also prompt  me to "sign in" to Google.
Too much hassle.

My two tech Gurus know nothing about blogging so they're no help.
 I blame upgrading my IOS.
My tech guy and I spent 3 hrs talking to Apple yesterday and he said he never upgrades until they get up to 8. 4,5,6.
By then all the kinks should be worked out.

My IPad didn't recognize my printer after the upgrade but I installed the HP app and it's OK.
Through this I learned that HP doesn't make computers anymore and is expected to go out of business in the near future.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to give them a try.
Meanwhile, I'll go back to the computer for blogging.

So, if you find my correspondence sketchy or missing..
I'm sorry, I'm doing the best I can not to miss anyone,
but I have to rely on my memory which isn't always the best.

Right now, I'm on technology overload.
Who invented all this stuff anyway?

Hope you're having a tech free day if that's possible these days.
Have a fun, relaxing weekend..

While walking past my door the other day, I  looked out
to see if there were any Hummingbirds.
Look how I hung this hook!!
It's been like that for two days..
I couldn't have done that again if I tried.

This is more like it !!!

My friend and neighbor does a lot of handiwork that includes, among other things, beautiful knitting.
A lot of her knitting is donated to our fairs to sell.
Recently she knitted a baby blanket and the person that bought it
asked her to knit a matching sweater and cap.
Isn't it adorable ?

From my kitchen the other day, I noticed this under my couch.
From a distance it didn't look anything like kitty feet
but that's what it turned out to be.
Max strikes again.

My brother in law has been spending a lot of time in the wood shop
making these beautiful bowls from wood by "turning" on a lathe.
This was going to be a goblet but the stem came off.
I said that I could find a use for it.

Tillandsias, Bromeliad or Air Fern
(no water necessary )

I guess there are two sides to every story.
This is the one and only Hydrangea blossom I had this year.
It was blue and huge. I finally decided to cut it.
As you can see, it is two faced !!

Happy Monday !!

A group of us went to an old inn that is located
in the Blue Mountains of Perry County, Landisburg, Pa.
It is situated along Shermans Creek
that in this particular area includes 6 warm springs
the largest of which is nearby.
It was first warranted in 1793, destroyed by fire and rebuilt
just after the Civil War.

The Inn has a very interesting history that I was going to share
but it is lengthy and copywrited.
If you want to read about it,
"Google" "Warm Springs Lodge Sherman Creek".
You won't be dissapointed.
The history includes lovers duels with swords and pistols, indians,
and it's transition to it's present state.
It was first opened as a Spa.

I believe this was a porch that has since been enclosed.
The history includes many old pictures
depicting the changes it has undergone.
The area has a lot of wildlife for hunting and fishing.
Rare birds have been seen here
making it a favorite haunt of  Audubon Society members.

You can see Shermans Creek in the background.
It's much more impressive further down.
The ride up was beautiful with all the colors of Autumn.

It's a beautiful area with a lot of wildlife for hunting and fishing.
Rare birds have been seen here
making it a favorite haunt of  Audubon Society members.

Food was served family style
with a salad bar and Apple Pie for dessert.
I don't think anyone left hungry.
