WEEK TWO

Week Two

Here come the trusses for the roof...fun to watch.

I know I heard a "this is too short" and a "this won't work"
once or twice.

Once the windows and roof were finished ( 2 weeks),
things seemed to go very slowly.

Besides the construction on the house,
there was a lot more going on having nothing to do with this house.
PPL (electric), Verizon (cable), and a carpet installer.

Sometimes an average day around here.

There were workmen here on and off all summer, fall
and half of the winter.
All of this outside my bedroom window which was open
 a lot of that time.
The new house has a gabled roof, larger kitchen and an added powder room.
It has the same footprint as my cottage and to do that ,
they had to make the bedrooms very small.
The new occupants moved in last week before I could get good
finished outside pictures.

This is the Florida room that was added and a little patio.
I don't think that plant is going to make it.
Not a great picture but I had to be a little sneaky to take it.
It's in the back behind the dining room and next to the garage.
Remember the shirtless roof guys??
Now there is snow on the ground..It took almost a year !!

Hopefully they aren't bothered by bugs because they are very bad.
I would never be able to sit out there..I guess they'll find out.
I hope they are happy here....

ACROSS THE STREET ALMOST A YEAR AGO

March 5th, 2014...Fire!!

It pretty much stayed like this until mid June.

When it rained it was pretty stinky..

The fire started in a car on the carport that was idling to warm up.
No one was hurt..The house was totaled.
The occupants moved to another cottage.

June 21st a dumpster arrived and stayed there all  summer.

They always blame delays on permits, insurance, etc.
I know there is some truth to that.

Day 1

The house was gutted..
The brick and the concrete foundation were saved.

By the end of the week, it was totally gutted
and the foundation for the Florida room was dug.

The concrete was poured for the Florida room and a small patio.
(to be continued)

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Every weekend in February,
we have had snow.

I really can't complain because
compared to the rest of the East Coast , we've gotten off easy.
I'm just a little tired of "Mr Bobcat."

I guess I should just be glad that he's doing the shoveling.

Mollie is doing what she does best..
waiting for her next "outing" and roll in the snow.

It will be pretty until the wind blows it around.

Of course,
the birds are eating me out of house and home.

I hope you are keeping warm this winter..
Never fear,
it won't be long before we are complaining about the heat.

CONQUERING OUR FEARS

Mollie seems to have issues with some noises.
Thunder, gunshots and skateboards...
The beep your phone makes when you dial a number.

Those noises I can sympathize with but this one is very strange.
The click of a thermostat !!
I bought one of these fireplaces last year and returned it because even after six weeks, she wouldn't come in the room.
I though I'd try it again.
This one only clicks when I turn it on or off...No thermostat.
This is about the sixth time I've used it
and she's finally giving it a go while keeping her eye on it.
When I turn my oven on, she hides in the bedroom.
Another clicking thermostat....

Good girl !
I hope you don't have any fears to conquer today..
Enjoy your weekend.

WAITING FOR MOLLIE

This Coopers Hawk
was sitting in the tree across the street just waiting...?
He follows us around on our walks quite often.

I think he has found out where Mollie lives..
Wouldn't she be a tasty little morsel ?

I often hear him and see his shadow flying overhead..

There has been a squirrel around here for several years
with almost no tail.
I see him often.
Sometimes he looks like a rabbit until you see him run.
Could it be a result of a hawk attack !!

Different day..different tree..same bird ?

This time he's in the back yard and has been there for almost
two hours..I feel like I should take him a mouse.
This little squirrel,
who is hanging on by his "nails", had best be careful..
I know the hawk can see him.

Robins  have been here all winter..
Taken thru my front door and storm door..Sorry it's a little foggy.

And he's here again...Day three.
He must be finding something to eat somewhere nearby.

I know he was there at least 3 hours.
I saw him leave but I don't know when he came....

Looks like he's got his eye on something...

BLOWN AWAY

Along with single digit temps, below zero wind chills,
this weekend did its best to blow me away.

These three houses are all next door to each other..
notice the flag directions..

Fortunately,
we have very little snow.....

Lots of clear blue skies and bright sunshine..
It was two degrees this AM... 13 degrees by Two PM...
This too shall pass.
Hope you stay warm and cozy this week.
