A friend of mine who reads my blog and knows
how I want to photograph some butterflies, called the other day..
"Grab your camera and Mollie (assumed) and come over.
My butterfly bush has lots of Butterflies."
Indeed it did.
(The yellow Swallowtails
were taken in my neighborhood the day before.)

Looks like this one had a run in with a bird.

Since it has taken me so long to find butterflies to photograph,
I think I'll milk it a bit...
This week will be dedicated to butterfly pics..

We live in an area where the ground contains a lot of Limestone.
Pot holes are common..
This one has been repaired in the past.

We've had some heavy rains lately that have opened them up.

Four inches of rain last week made this already existing hole
twice as large.

I'm not going to get close enough to show you how deep it is..
at least waist high.
It has been roped off twice, increasing it's diameter each time.

This one looks like a dent. The sod hadn't been broken yet..

They are in the process of being repaired.
We had one where I used to the time it was repaired,
it was three times it's original size.
That one was caused by the builder burying construction debris and covering it up...lots of air pockets.
I hope you have a sink hole free day.

Ann and Joe came for dinner and brought Jazz II.
Jazz thought they had taken her to Toys R Us.

Mollie has a toy box that Jazz systematically,
one toy at a time, almost emptied.

Zoey spent the evening under the bed.
It was a little crazy for her.

The laundry basket was sitting by the door waiting
to be put in the garage.
The clean towels are "Mollie towels"
that also belong in the garage.

Do you suppose that Zoey wants to be out there as well?

Nope..she's just being Zoey.

"Big deal !!"

Wednesdays post was about fledgling Sparrows leaving their nest.
The next day when I went out to fill the feeders,
this little one was sitting on my windowsill.
I took this from inside....pardon the reflection.
I disturbed him when I filled the feeder that he was sitting under.
He flew to a nearby bush.
His flying skills have a way to go. Hope he does OK.

The following day this baby was sitting in my Cherry Tree.
They have not ventured very far from home.

I cleaned out the birdhouse today....
getting ready for new tenants.

Good luck babies.

Look who's thinking about spreading his wings..Finally!!

It seems as though there have been babies in this birdhouse
since early spring.

I think this may be the second group of Sparrow fledglings.
I can tell this is the baby by his beak.

Mom came by frequently to "encourage" him to leave.

At one point they were both inside
and the house was shaking a bit.
Maybe a little pushing and shoving??

Several times he stretched his wings for a very short flight out
and immediately came back to the nest.

I took almost forty pictures in about a half hours time.
These were taken around noon.
Later,  before dinner, I was taking out the trash
and a very low flying sparrow almost hit me in the head and landed in the grass..
I hope they make it through their first few days.

About five weeks ago I wrote a post about a Wren
who had built a nest on a bookcase
in the back of a neighbors garage.
They have flown their nest and made it out of the garage.

There's no way to tell if these are the original parents or new ones.
This time they opted for a house.
This birdhouse is more than ten years old
and used to belong to a good friend and one time neighbor of mine.

I have always liked it as have the birds..
It has been very well used over the years.
I have painted the roof
and it has been repaired (tightened) a few times..
The hole wasn't big enough for somebody.
When I moved here five years ago I brought it with me
and it hasn't disappointed me.
This is the first Wren family it has housed.

All birdies welcome!!!

At any given time one can look out the window to the backyard
and there will be Bunnies..
Anywhere from 1,2 or 5.
They must like all the clover in our grass
and lots of hiding places.

Their tails are usually hard to see.
This is the best I could do with four rabbits.

I haven't seen the smaller ones for awhile.
They must have caught up...I'm sure there will be more.
Last night there were two little ones !

I had forgotten how Cone Flowers attract Finches.

They find the seeds a delicacy and spend hours harvesting them.

Taking their pictures tends to scare them off.

Have a beautiful week.
